Newsroom Leadership

I regularly fill-in as dayside and nightside producer at KTVU. From January-June 2025, I worked as interim nightside executive producer. I was responsible for conducting the daily afternoon editorial meeting, assigning reporters, approving scripts, mentoring producers, and overseeing four hours of live nightly news production, including the legendary Ten O’Clock News. I was also tasked with launching a nightly half-hour streaming show, Take 2 Nightly, which takes a more informal, podcast-style approach to the day’s headlines.

Below are some examples of some nights when I was particularly proud of the nightside team in working together to tell some important major stories.

The Ten O’Clock News February 5, 2025

Producer: Chiann Nobrega

Dennis Richmond was a consistent, authoritative presence on Bay Area television for 40 years, serving as anchor of the Ten O’Clock News until his retirement in 2008. His passing was a shock and a loss for viewers and KTVU employees past and present. We attempted to strike a balance between honoring his legacy while also doing something the legendary journalist would have expected us to do that night: to cover other news as well.

The Ten O’Clock News April 15, 2025

Producer: Chris Culcasi

A busy news night with five nightside reporters, including two on the hotly-contested Oakland mayoral race, and two on a consequential Warriors game.
